Tuesday, May 17th will be our monthly “Flex Your Rights Night.” The central purpose of Flex Your Rights Nights are to provoke discussion and focus on the legal issues surrounding individual civil rights and how to protect them as it relates to encounters with law enforcement, in the context of technology, in everyday society, or in the abstract.

For this month’s Flex Your Rights Night, we will be starting at 7PM and discussing the issue of photographer’s rights. Join us as we focus on the distinction between the First Amendment rights of photographers and the power of the government to restrict those rights.

Our special guest this month will be Rick Unland of Spin City Imaging, a professional photographer who will display a robotic panorama mount that he has used for photography in the past.  Rick will also talk about some of the experiences he has had dealing with law enforcement in the context of photography.

We’ll follow up with a discussion, questions and answers, and your feedback about how we can continue on with Flex Your Rights nights in the future. We hope to see you at the Space on Tuesday, May 17th!
